About the exhibition theme – THE SUGAR FACTORY
Art in a big old – temporary empty – industrial building that used to produce sugar.
Art is a form of expression that transcends language barriers and allows us to connect with our surroundings in a unique way. The traces of an abandoned factory are silent witnesses to a past full of life and activity. The weathered walls and dilapidated structures tell us of times gone by, of dedicated workers and a thriving industry that once existed.
The dialogue between art and these traces is an opportunity to revive the forgotten stories and give them a new meaning. Artists have the ability to see beyond decay and desolation, and find beauty in what others consider trash. Through painting, sculpture, photography or any other form of artistic expression, they can transform ruins into works of art that capture the essence of what was and could be.
Art invites us to reflect on the passage of time and the fragility of human existence. It reminds us that everything has a life cycle and that even the most impressive structures eventually disappear. But it also shows us that creativity and imagination can give new life to what has been abandoned. The tracks of an abandoned sugar factory become blank canvases, ready to be transformed by those with the vision and passion to do so. This dialogue between art and the traces of an abandoned sugar factory also invites us to reflect on our role as humans in the preservation of our historical and cultural heritage. These beautiful industrial buildings are part of our collective history and it is the responsibility of all of us to keep them alive in memory and imagination. In short, the dialogue between art and the traces of an abandoned sugar factory allows us to explore and reinterpret our past, inviting us to imagine a future where these structures can be revitalized and appreciated again. It is a reminder of the fleeting beauty of life and of art's ability to give new meaning to what has been left behind.
The BLUE CANVAS Projects 03 seeks to transform an abandoned sugar factory into a vibrant space full of life through an art exhibition. This initiative aims to revitalize the area's industrial heritage and provide a unique experience for visitors, combining contemporary art with the factory's history.
Our Goal is:
To save and preserve the industrial heritage from the abandoned sugar factory - before further project development transforms the area into a hotel, etc. To promote creativity and artistic expression in the local community, also promoting cultural tourism and local development – while also raise awareness of the importance of preserving historical heritage.
